The headline of the article is «London gallery to show recreation of Joan Miró's Mallorcan studio».
The author of the article is Maev Kennedy. It was published in The Guardian on the 30th of November.
The main idea of this article is the value of recreation of the studio of the great Spanish artist Joan Miró in London. The author gives a reader some information about Miro’s life, works, masterpieces and Miro’s grandson’s memories.
The author starts by telling some important elements that are recreated in the London’s studio. The author points out the dazzling Mallorcan light, streaming in through huge windows, bouncing off the steep slope above and the sea far below and the mummified cat hanging on a wall. The article describes the studio’s interior, that had been reproduces by the photographs taken in 1970s by Jean-Marie del Moral. The author states that two brothers decided to reproduce this studio. Their names are: Eduard and Jordi Mayoral. As Jordi said, they wanted to find a way to make people feel the space, but brothers hope they will then go to experience the real place in Mallorca. According to the text there are not so much original things in the interior, the majority are the replicas. Nevertheless they hope they will find someone who will be able to to weave a copy of the sinister palm leaf sun-face that hangs from the ceiling, identical to one owned by Picasso. The article goes on to say that Miro hadn’t always had a big personal studio. He used to rent some flats with broken windows only to have a possibility of drawing anytime he wanted it. He was poor and couldn’t have a family because he understood that they won’t be able to do what usual Spanish did. But some time later he became a famous artist and was familiar with Picasso.
I found this article very informative and life-affirming. You never know what can happens to you but the main thing in the life it’s a hope. I admire Eduard and Jordi Mayoral. They are real heroes of our time. It’s such a worthy action and they make a great contribution to the arts.
Please, answer the questions: Is it actual to reproduce studios of great artists in other countries? How do you treat replicas in the museums? Don’t you find it unworthy? Why?
