The headline of the article I've picked up is "School's walking rule inappropriate in 2015". The authors are Sally Weale and Mark Tran. It was published in "The gurdian" on 5th November 2015.
The main idea of the article is teachers' concernment in pupils' behaviour and the way of improving it.
The authors start by explaining the plot of the idea speaking about the decision to make pupils walk around the primary school with their hands clasped behind their backs. According to the article the headteacher wants the children to be safe by this way. To his mind it “inspires children to be the best they can be”.
At the same time we find out what the people's reaction is. Michael Reiss, professor at the Institute of Education, consideres this method to be unsuitable for our time. He supports any desire of improving pupils but not in this case. Moreover the article goes on to say the parents are completely against such a policy. According to the text almost every adult consideres this idea to be too dictatorial. They are sure it's not the way of making their children better but vice versa. It is a loss of liberty and trust.
In conclusion the authors let us know despite the parents disagreements the school is going to stick it in order to maximise learning time. The headteacher promises pupils to be happy and excited about learning.
I found this article rather unusial and first of all I'd like to thank the authors for such an information. Actually I must say I'm shocked of people having such ideas. As for me such a policy can do nothing but ruin a child's psyche. Children are children and we mustn't make them be completely framed, it's too much. Of course we should support and guide them but not make them blindly obey us. This way is terrible and I'm really afraid this headteacher needs some medical help.
Dear friends, what do you think about this situation? Do you agree children are too free and it's necessary to decrease this freedom by such a tyrannical way?

Thank you Olya for this entertaining article. I agree with you it's really irregular and very strange method concernment in pupils' behaviour. I found it abnormal. For what it needs? When all these children grew up they would be different from other ones. Many people would consider them odd, even mentally deseased. And of course, they would avois such people. This teacher is crazy. It's high time to pay attention to his mind.
ОтветитьУдалитьOlya! Thank you for raising the issue of children's freedom's limitations. It is rather important nowadays as there are a lot of ways of bringing-up and nobody knows exactly how to raise up babies into kind and intelligent adults, but it's evident that such cruel methods and various limitations are not of help. If to analyze this question deeper, I can surely say that your article is the beginning and mine is a result: the children brought up in violence become the adults able to kill.
ОтветитьУдалитьExactly, how good you have mentioned about your article to be a continuation of mine! My passage really can be a possible answer for your question.
УдалитьOlya, thank you for such useful article!!! You know there're lots of methods how to bring-up children. But I think it's invidually and every parent choose how to do it. But I'm shocked! I think it's tyrannical and cruel way! I'd like to mention that this method ruins a child's psyche. Freedom is very important in bringing-up children. Theu should know that they have the right of choice and action. And moreover if parents don't like it they should immediately change the school or they should do all possible to close the school!
